Heart of Warriorship
The first set of Shambhala Training meditation programs are offered
in a series of five weekend workshops ( the "numbered" Levels
1 through 5). These programs introduce Trungpa Rinpoche's Shambhala
Teachingsan open-hearted approach to living that awakens
us to the vivid quality of our daily experiences amidst work,
family, and our larger society. This is an excellent opportunity
to try out a day or two of meditation and get an experiential
feeling for these teachings.
All weekend programs include meditation, lunch, tea breaks, talks,
discussion, and private interviews:
The Art of Being Human (Level I)
By simply being on the spot, your life can become workable and
even wonderful. You realize that you are capable of sitting like
a king or queen on a throne. The regalness of that situation shows
you the dignity that comes from being still and simple.
Schedule: Begins on Friday evening with 7:30pm registration
Saturday 9:00am - 6:00pm
Birth of the Warrior (Level II)
Acknowledging fear is not a cause for depression or discouragement.
Because we possess such fear, we also are potentially entitled
to express fearlessness. True fearlessness is not the reduction
of fear; but going beyond fear.
Schedule: Begins on Friday evening with 7:30pm registration
Saturday 9:00am - 6:00pm
Warrior in the World (Level III)
What the warrior renounces is anything in his experience that
is a barrier between himself and others. In other words, renunciation
is making yourself more available, more gentle and open to others.
Schedule: Begins on Friday evening with 7:30pm registration
Saturday & Sunday: 9:00am – 6:00pm (approx.)
Including a few hours on the following Saturday
Awakened Heart (Level IV)
Through the practice of sitting still and following your breath
as it goes out and dissolves, you are connecting with your heart.
By simply letting your self be, as you are, you develop genuine
sympathy towards yourself.
Schedule: Begins on Friday evening with 7:30pm registration
Saturday & Sunday: 9:00am – 6:00pm (approx.)
Open Sky (Level V)
When you live your life in accordance with basic goodness, then
you develop natural elegance. Your life can be spacious and relaxed,
without having to be sloppy. You can actually let go of your depression
and embarrassment about being a human being, and you can cheer
up.
Schedule: Begins on Friday evening with 7:30pm registration
Saturday & Sunday: 9:00am – 6:00pm (approx.)

Sacred Path of the Warrior
The Sacred Path of the Warrior ("graduate"
Levels ) is the intermediate set of
weekend programs which includes increased study and discussion
of the Shambhala principles. Open to those who have completed
Level 5. Completion of The Sacred Path program is the prerequisite
for participating in Warrior's Assembly (a two-week intensive
residential program held at the regional meditation centers).
All weekend programs include meditation, lunch, tea breaks, talks,
discussion, and private interviews.
The Schedule
All programs begin on Friday evening with registration at 7:30pm
and a talk and discussion starting at 8pm. The schedule for Saturday
and Sunday is usually 9am-6pm (although ending time may be slightly
earlier or later).
Great Eastern Sun
This is an important "transition weekend" for those who have graduated
from the Introductory Levels 1 - 5.
Windhorse
When you express gentleness and precision in your environment, then real brilliance and power can descend onto that situation. If you try to manufacture that presence out of you own ego, it will never happen. You cannot own the power and the magic of this world. It is always available, but it does not belong to anyone.
Drala
Any perception can connect us to reality properly and fully. What we see doesn't have to be pretty, particularly; we can appreciate anything that exists. There is some principle of magic in everything, some living quality. Something living, something real, is taking place in everything.
Meek
The warrior of meek has abandonded gain, victory , and fame, leaving
them far behind.
Perky
The warrior of perky is never caught in the trap of doubt and
is always joyful and artful.
Outrageous & Inscrutable
The warrior of outragious is never caught in the ambush of hope,
and therefore fearlessness is achieved. The vision of inscrutability
is to creat an orderly and powerful world full of gentle energy.
Golden Key
When you are fully gentle, without arrogance and without aggression,
you see the brilliance of the universe. You develop a true perception
of the universe.

Ordinary Magic (aka Path of the Warrior): The Shambhala Path
(6 weeks offered periodically)
"Ordinary Magic" is a six-week course which introduces new students to the Shambhala Teachings of Chögyam Trungpa. Talks and discussion are based on his book, Sacred Path of the Warrior. Although we will be discussing ideas, our basis for understanding will still be meditation practice. As the Shambhala teachings show, it is through the discipline of meditation that we discover the basic goodness of human experiencethe starting point for helping the world and establishing a good society.
Below are descriptions of each hour-long class (from Chögyam Trungpa's Sacred Path of the Warrior):
Building a Good Human Society
Discovering the basic goodness of human experience is the beginning point of helping the world and establishing good human society.
Discovering Basic Goodness
The practice of meditationlooking directly at our own personal experience is the only way to discover our fundamental human capabilities.
Gentleness and Fearlessness
Connecting with our heart gives birth to gentleness and fearlessness.
The Great Eastern Sun
Human existence can be based either on the cowards avoidance of direct experience or the warriors appreciation of things as they are.
The Warrior's Discipline
From the warrior's sensitivity, he renounces those things that separate him from others. Out of this the warrior's discipline is born.
Sacred View and Nowness
When we synchronize mind and body we experience the world directly, which brings appreciation of the here and now.
