Pema Karpo Group Weekend Retreat
7 pm Friday to 1 pm Sunday
This retreat is designed in collaboration with Acharya Richard John and is intended for 1) all senior students; or 2) intermediate students who have completed either Shambhala Training Levels I through III, or three Shambhala School of Buddhist Studies Courses. Our study and practice will be based on "The Instruction for Coemergent Mahamudra" by Pema Karpo. We will listen to audiotapes of Acharya John's teachings from Milwaukee and Chicago on this topic.

Vajra Assembly: Mahamudra & Shambhala Society
The study aspect of this retreat will revolve around audiotapes from Trungpa Rinpoche’s 1980 Vajra Assembly of the same name. Open to all ngondro and sadhana practitioners who have completed Vajrayana Seminary.

Hearing, Contemplating and Meditation Intensive

Through hearing, you open up the possibility of overcoming ego.
Through meditation, you can begin to discover the mind's inherent strength and stability. Through contemplation, you link your meditative insights to your actions in this world. When you fully engage with these three, you increase your life-force energy, and your experience of the world becomes more vivid and clear. This weekend retreat is designed for practitioners at all levels of experience. Join us for a weekend of instruction, discussion, walks and talks.

Learning to Meditate
9 am to 4:30 pm
This daylong program on how to train the mind through the practice of mindfulness or peaceful abiding meditation is ideal for beginners as well as students who would like to stabilize and deepen their meditation. This program offers practical instructions for living in an awakened way through peaceful abiding meditation, which connects us with our mind’s inherent stability, clarity and strength. The course will give students a basic grounding in the principles of meditation, as well as contemplative techniques to gain insight into the state of our mind and the state of our life.
Cost: $45, includes lunch. (Accommodations are available for Friday evening, Sept. 22, for an additional $40--includes breakfast)

June 22-June 24
Mahamudra Shamatha with Acharya Richard John
Practice the basics of Mahamudra meditation in the Shambhala tradition with Acharya John, master teacher, 3 Year Retreatant, and head of the Acharya Council under Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. This first weekend of the Mahamudra Intensive for tantrikas will be open to any practitioner who has completed either Shambhala Levels I-III, or 3 Shambhala School of Buddhist Study classes. This weekend will serve as either an introduction or a refresher for everyone, and is an excellent way for both newer and older students to deepen their appreciation of Shamatha and Vipashyana.
